It is endemic to the northern parts of

,
<collectingRegion box="[813,886,1712,1738]" country="Canada" name="Yukon" pageId="6" pageNumber="570">Yukon</collectingRegion>
and the
<collectingRegion box="[992,1239,1712,1738]" country="Canada" name="Northwest Territories" pageId="6" pageNumber="570">Northwest Territories</collectingRegion>
. This is the only grasshopper species known to occur north of the Canadian mainland and it is the only species restricted to the Arctic. All other Nearctic species of
<taxonomicName box="[556,680,1784,1810]" class="Insecta" kingdom="Animalia" order="Orthoptera" pageId="6" pageNumber="570" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="order">Orthoptera</taxonomicName>
, even those that occur in the Arctic localities, occur also in subarctic localities.
