This nine-spotted ladybeetle has a very wide distribution from
<collectingCountry box="[1503,1606,1560,1601]" name="Japan" pageId="9" pageNumber="159">Japan</collectingCountry>
and the
<collectingCountry box="[361,556,1611,1653]" name="Philippines" pageId="9" pageNumber="159">Philippines</collectingCountry>
through
<collectingCountry box="[724,882,1611,1653]" name="Malaysia" pageId="9" pageNumber="159">Malaysia</collectingCountry>
to
<collectingCountry box="[942,1211,1611,1653]" name="New Caledonia" pageId="9" pageNumber="159">New Caledonia</collectingCountry>
and Queensland. It is now recorded in
<collectingCountry box="[521,626,1662,1704]" name="Guam" pageId="9" pageNumber="159">Guam</collectingCountry>
for the first time where it had no doubt been purposely introduced, but without being recorded. It feeds on plant lice. We found it common in corn fields and in rice fields, where it may have been feeding somewhat on young leafhoppers.
