Monophyly of this group is suggested by the uncommon shape of the body of the penis and the endophallic sclerites. Although the unique synapomorphies are in the features of the penis body, these species have a characteristic habitus (shape of pronotum, elytra and legs and elytral vestiture) which allows their easy recognition. The group is presently composed of five Palaearctic species.
