Ventral valve hemiconical with high apex with narrow rounded tip and high, laterally convex, triangular interarea which on larger specimens overhangs the hingeline. No fold or sulcus, but anterior commissure may show shallow, rounded, poorly defined uniplication. Shell coarsely punctate, exterior smooth or with weak, irregular growth lines. Fine tubular spines are visible on some external moulds, (
