Body length

. Arista densely plumose, hairs becoming sparser apically. Setae brown. Ocellar seta approximately 2/3 length of postvertical. Presutural intra-alar absent. Two dorsocentral setae with enlarged setula in front of anterior dorsocentral. Acrostichal seta absent. One lateral scutellar seta. Head yellow with ocellar tubercle and clypeus brown, first flagellomere with faded dorsolateral stripe on outer surface, and face, gena, parafacial and occiput paler yellow; gena sparsely micropilose. Scutum yellow with posterolateral margin of postpronotum brown, notopleuron light brown, posterolateral corner with pale mottling, posteromedial margin with triangular spot, and with light, narrow postsutural dorsocentral stripe that is nearly absent posteriorly. Scutellum brown. Mediotergite yellow; anatergite and katatergite light brown with anteroventral margin darker. Pleuron white to light yellow, with anepimeron brownish on ventral half and yellow dorsally, and anepisternum yellow with anterior and anteroventral margins brown and posterodorsal corner widely brown. Legs yellow with coxae and base of femora whitish, fore tibia light brown and fore tarsi brown. Halter white. Wing lightly clouded on apical 1/5. M1+2 ratio 2.9. Abdomen yellow with lateral margin of tergites 15 light brown, single transverse light brown stripe with posteromedial extension on posterior margin of tergite 1 and anterior margin of tergite 2, tergite 3 with short, tapered anteromedial stripe, tergite 4 with broad, rounded anteromedial stripe, tergite 5 with complete medial stripe that is narrower on posterior half, and tergite 6 with brownish posteromedial margin; epandrium dark brown with anterior margin yellow; surstylus brown with apex yellow; cerci pale yellow.

. (Figs 3941) Surstylus subequal in height to epandrium, tapering towards rounded apex, with posterobasal margin very slightly raised, and inner-apical margin with few tubercle-like setae. Cerci small and rounded, slightly raised, with setae mostly short. Hypandrium with three short setae (basal-most two longer), slightly fused to pregonite. Pregonite slightly tapered apically and with two short and two long setae. Postgonite small, lobate, with several minute apical setae. Phallapodeme, basiphallus and epiphallus well developed. Distiphallus slightly more than half length of phallapodeme; paraphallus well developed with broad, thin apex and no thumb.

The specific epithet is Greek for “tapering off, becoming less”, referring to the pale scutal and abdominal colour pattern.
