Cells are Gram-stain-positive and rod-shaped. Colonies are punctiform, convex, smooth and light yellow colored after incubation for 3-5 days on MA at 30℃. Positive for urease; weakly positive for esculin hydrolysis; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, gelatin hydrolysis, β-galactosidase and cytochrome oxidase. Malic acid is utilized as a sole carbon source; but not D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol,
<emphasis id="0EA1AA146B7305242D28F897FDC79CBE" box="[532,550,1905,1928]" italics="true" pageId="4" pageNumber="5">N</emphasis>
-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. Strain CAU 1609 (
<emphasis id="0EA1AA146B7305242C6FFB1CFC869E24" bold="true" box="[851,871,1274,1298]" pageId="4" pageNumber="5">=</emphasis>
NIBRBAC000506270) was isolated from a sea sediment sample from Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do. The Gen Bank accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain CAU 1609 is MW012852.
