, but it can be distinguished from that species and other congeners by the following combination of characteristics: dark-gray to blackish dorsal pelage; tricolored dorsal fur; weakly defined white facial stripes; ear uniformly pigmented, without distinctly paler margins; entire forearm covered by long, dense fur; uropatagium dark gray and sparsely furred; rostrum short, broad, and not upturned, but with a dorsal concavity in the nasal region; posterior border of hard palate U-shaped; angular process well-developed and reaching the level of the condyloid process; second upper premolar caniniform; M1 with narrow talon; and m3 present (Handley, 1987; Marques-Aguiar, 2008a; Díaz et al., 2016; López-Baucells et al., 2018; Solari, 2019c).
