Representatives of the group as a whole are characterized by the primitive structure of the male P2, P3 and P4 endopods (all endopods are slender, with unmodified, normally developed setae). They also lack the characteristic unguiform processes on the anal somite. However, the synapomorphies that combine these species are not sufficiently reliable. These are the loss of outer spinules on the P5 eXopod (character 56) and a large difference between the length of the spines on the P5 baseoendopod of males (character 60). Thus, the monophyly of the clade remains in question.
