Professor Marsh (Amer. Journ. Sci. Arts, 1892, p. 83) endeavors to show that this genus differs from any of those described by him by quoting characters from
<emphasis box="[904,951,561,595]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">my</emphasis>
description of the
<materialsCitation ID-GBIF-Occurrence="2433423074" box="[145,368,606,640]" country="United States" formation="Laramie Formation" geologicalContextID="Cretaceous" pageId="2" pageNumber="758" preperations="illium" specimenCount="1" typeStatus="other material">type specimen</materialsCitation>
. Since
<emphasis box="[508,555,606,640]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">my</emphasis>
last description of that genus was published (1875), I have studied part of a skeleton obtained by Dr. J. L. Wortman in Dakota, of which the parts are undistinguishable from those of the
<emphasis box="[356,685,741,775]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">
<taxonomicName box="[356,681,741,775]" class="Reptilia" family="Ceratopsidae" genus="Agathaumas" higherTaxonomySource="GBIF" kingdom="Animalia" order="Dinosauria" pageId="2" pageNumber="758" phylum="Chordata" rank="genus">Agathaumas silvestre</taxonomicName>

These include an ilium in much better preservation than that of the type, and I am enabled to correct some of the statements contained in
<emphasis box="[716,764,831,865]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">my</emphasis>
original description. I stated that there is no facet for the pubis at the front of the acetabulum. The surface at this point is broken in both of my specimens, but it is altogether probable that the structure at this point does not differ from that of the allied forms. The ischiadic suture is in like manner obscured by injuries in the type specimen. The Dakota specimen is perfectly preserved at this point, and displays a
<emphasis box="[929,1008,1101,1135]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">large</emphasis>
convex sutural surface for the ischium, thus showing that my original description was imperfect in this point. The number of sacral vertebrae in the original
<emphasis box="[141,280,1237,1271]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">specimen</emphasis>
is not exactly determinable—only approximately, but this region is identical in character with that of other members of the family. That the

</taxonomicName>
is one of the
<emphasis box="[993,1096,1327,1361]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="758">largest</emphasis>
species of the family is indicated by the following measurements of the Dakota specimen:
