It is usually common throughout its range, which lies in areas where human impact is still very limited. We are not aware of any direct threat, and the species does not seem to be specifically hunted, collected or destroyed by the local human populations in areas that we have visited. Its conservation status would thus probably qualify as “Least Concern” based on the current situation.
