This species previously was known from only

). During our 2004 expedition to
<collectingCountry id="F359E0AF9C55FFE19A1690283FF1ED48" box="[321,475,550,572]" name="Dominican Republic" pageId="7">the Dominican</collectingCountry>
Republic, six additional specimens were collected. Three of these were taken at blacklight and three in sugar bait traps, all in
<collectingRegion id="498A6EDD9C55FFE19BF890523F57ED06" box="[175,381,604,626]" country="Dominican Republic" name="Pedernales" pageId="7">Pedernales Province</collectingRegion>
in the west.

did not determine the gender of the

. Based on additional material of both sexes, it is now clear that the
<typeStatus id="54F51E9D9C55FFE1999F909C3D08EDDC" box="[712,802,658,680]" pageId="7" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
is a male. Sexual dimorphism is readily apparent: in males there are large anterolateral patches of distinctly smaller and denser punctation on the pronotum (
