Name emanating from the game “dungeons and dragons” where the character “cornugon” is a creature with two horns on the forehead and with wings, much like some of the species in this new genus, e.g. the
<typeStatus id="54E3F48BFFFEFFFAFAC1193CEC28FE97" box="[1334,1382,331,355]" pageId="2" pageNumber="3">type</typeStatus>
species. The name is from the Latin
<emphasis id="B92C963BFFFEFFFAFDFE1907EB04FE73" box="[521,586,368,391]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="3">cornu</emphasis>
= horn, and with a suitable suffix. The gender is neuter.
