Although not mentioned on the original labels, the specimens were probably collected by Carl Gottfried Semper (1832-1893), a German malacologist who obtained a Ph.D. degree at the University of

in 1856 and continued his studies in Kiel. An inheritance from his father allowed him to pay for a seven years trip to the Philippines and Palau (1858-1865) (
