Dorsum of Emmonss Rice Rat is tawny brown, with slightly darker head. Lateral color is ocherous, and venter is white and lightly suffused with gray. Facial vibrissae extend slightly beyond ears. Tail is long and bicolored. Hindfeet have dense ungual tufts, extending beyond claws. Skull is small and delicate. Interorbital margins have smooth supraorbital crests. Capsular process on mandibular ramusis absent. Incisors are opisthodont, and molars are pentalophodont. Chromosomal complement is 2n = 80, FN = 86.</paragraph>
