Benthopectinids have been collected almost exclusively from cold-water settings, such as from polar regions and especially from the deep-sea. Although this group is well-known from museum collections, there are few, if any,
<emphasis id="B973EA82FFB6D54BFF40240DFF03581B" box="[151,221,1306,1331]" italics="true" pageId="11" pageNumber="212">in situ</emphasis>
observations of any benthopectinids known. Other observations of benthopectinids during the CAPSTONE expeditions were present on the rocky surfaces and not buried as opposed to the species described herein.
