The specific name is in honour of Fernando Coloma Román, Ecuadorian nature photographer, currently supporting the biorestoration and conversion of pasture to natural forest at the site where this species was first found. Additionally, he has dedicated his life to promote Ecuadorian biodiversity with photography.
