The name honors the Argentinean arachnologist Cristina L. Scioscia, who currently serves as a member of the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature and is the woman arachnologist specializing in the jumping spiders of Latin America. With this, we recognize her importance, through her kindness and endless encouragement, in our careers as jumping spider systematists.
