The specific name refers to the parent rock of the soil (lava flow) in which soil litter, the habitat of this mite species, is deposited. The word “tescal” in the náhuatl language means covered basalt stone from ancient volcanic eruptions or volcanic lava field, and the latin suffix “cola” means inhabitant (one who inhabits). So,
