Worker minor.-This insect differs from the small worker of

: the head is of a different form, being narrowed slightly behind the eyes, and is more sharply emarginate behind; the scale of the peduncle is more elongate and pointed at the apex; the abdomen entirely black, and the legs red. Notwithstanding the differences pointed out, this species will probably prove to be a variety of r.
