<paragraph id="20AF681A45276CAEEA46861128130C26" pageId="31" pageNumber="31">Worker. Length 3 1/2 lines.-Jet-black, smooth and shining; head large, much wider than the thorax, deeply emarginate behind; the anterior margin of the clypeus slightly rounded and entire; the mandibles stout, strongly toothed within, and very obscurely ferruginous at their apex. Thorax rounded in front, compressed behind and obliquely truncate at the apex; legs wanting. Abdomen subglobose; the scale of the peduncle ovate, its upper margin entire; the head, thorax and abdomen thinly sprinkled with pale erect hairs.</paragraph>
