This species can be distinguished from other Afrotropical
<taxonomicName lsidName="" pageId="0" pageNumber="33" rank="subfamily" subfamily="Rhyssinae">Rhyssinae</taxonomicName>
by the combination of diverging median carinae on the frons, the lateral absence of the epicnemial carina, and an open areolet. Its yellow and black colour pattern is distinctive.

: frons with median carinae diverging towards ocelli, without lateral carinae; hypostomal carina raised into a low flange, its height slightly less than or equivalent to the maximum width of the second maxillary palp segment.
