In his description of the species,

published the only locality known to him as “

.” There is however, no specimen with this locality in the LeConte Collection in Cambridge,
<collectingRegion box="[638,810,870,896]" country="United States of America" name="Massachusetts" pageId="30" pageNumber="387">Massachusetts</collectingRegion>
. This prompted Peck and Cook (2006) to designate a
<typeStatus box="[474,586,906,932]" pageId="30" pageNumber="387">lectotype</typeStatus>

. However, Peck and Cook (2006) were unable to examine specimens to confirm these records. Consequently, the status of this species in both

and
<collectingRegion box="[255,398,1046,1073]" country="Canada" name="Nova Scotia" pageId="30" pageNumber="387">Nova Scotia</collectingRegion>
should be further investigated. It is a myrmecophile associated with nests of
