are the only species of this genus distributed in both the Nearctic and Neotropical regions. Of these
<taxonomicName id="6482FA55A43B862CCB33C188255AE6DB" class="Insecta" family="Bombyliidae" genus="Lepidanthrax" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Lepidanthrax proboscideus" order="Diptera" pageId="18" pageNumber="67" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="proboscideus">Lepidanthrax proboscideus</taxonomicName>
extends as far as El Salvador, the most southern distribution for a Nearctic species of this genus. This is the first record of this species in the northeast of Mexico.
