This species has been found mainly at peripheral sites in open areas, at shallow depth in various kinds of water bodies (temporary or permanent lentic habitats with water stagnant or very slowly flowing). The water was generally clear and the bottom consisted of sand and/or clay, with some plant debris. There was either no vegetation or sparse helophytes and at some sites presence of filamentous green algae. This species is tolerant to anthropogenic disturbance.
