Head—body 85-100 mm, tail 64-77 mm, ear 8-11 mm, hindfoot 13-17 mm; weight 20-24 g. The Naked-tailed White-toothed Shrew is large. Dorsum is blackish or dark brown, with ash gray-based and brownish-tipped hairs. Ventral pelage is similar to dorsum or paler grayish brown, with silvery gray-based and brownish gray-tipped hairs. Ears are darkly pigmented and covered with very short dark hairs on outer edges. Hindfeet are dark brown, and forefeet are slightly lighter brown. Tail is ¢.73% of head-body length, nearly naked with a few scattered bristle hairs nearits base, and bicolored, being blackish above and slightly paler below. Skull is broader than in the Kahuzi White-toothed Swamp Shrew (
