Cells are Gram-stain-positive, non-flagellated, and rod-shaped. Colonies grown on Nutrient agar (NA) are circular, convex, and ivory colored after incubation 2-3 days at 30°C. Positive for oxidase, reduction of nitrates, esculine hydrolysis, and
<emphasis id="B9652968FFF1FFB1B1916D79FBCA1215" box="[1013,1028,794,818]" italics="true" pageId="9" pageNumber="371">β</emphasis>
-galactosidase, but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, and gelatin hydrolysis. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, and D-mannitol are utilized as sole carbon sources, but not
