. While these collections are in almost all respects a good match for
<emphasis id="B939EA97FFFEFF91FB61F9C1BC6CBE2B" box="[1241,1402,1567,1592]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">M. procurrens</emphasis>
, the Taperas plants have an appressed indumentum on the leaflets, while
<emphasis id="B939EA97FFFEFF91FC23F99DBD2ABE4F" box="[923,1084,1603,1628]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">M. procurrens</emphasis>
is described as having glabrous or thinly spreading setose leaflets. With several closely allied species in subseries
<emphasis id="B939EA97FFFEFF91FB91F9B9BD9DBE93" box="[1065,1163,1639,1664]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">Hirsutae</emphasis>
from adjacent

and

, all of them currently represented by few collections, the identification of these new Bolivian collections as
<emphasis id="B939EA97FFFEFF91FF12F971B858BEDB" box="[170,334,1711,1736]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">M. procurrens</emphasis>
should be verified, especially once mature fruits are available. This species in
<collectingCountry id="F35A7615FFFEFF91FB4DF970BC51BEDB" box="[1269,1351,1710,1736]" name="Bolivia" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">Bolivia</collectingCountry>
forms a prostrate functionally herbaceous plant arising from a small knotty xylopodium and is immediately recognizable within
<collectingCountry id="F35A7615FFFEFF91FF61F928B83DBF03" box="[217,299,1782,1808]" name="Bolivia" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">Bolivia</collectingCountry>
by its sub-palmate (palmatipinnate) leaves with two pairs of pinnae. It grows in
<emphasis id="B939EA97FFFEFF91FB6EF928BCBDBF03" box="[1238,1451,1782,1808]" italics="true" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">cerrado Chaqueño</emphasis>
(Abayoy), apparently resprouting and flowering after fire, sometimes in seasonally moist places, but often on drier porous soils. Currently known in
<collectingCountry id="F35A7615FFFEFF91FE42F8E0BB5ABF4B" box="[506,588,1854,1880]" name="Bolivia" pageId="19" pageNumber="220">Bolivia</collectingCountry>
from only a single locality and from incomplete material. Fruiting collections and additional populations should be sought.
