Derived from the Indonesian word “kuwat” meaning strong, with reference to the squat body of this species.

Females of this species are characterized by the following combination of characters: F1F3 anelliform, F4F5 large, with sensilla; mesosoma strongly convex; ovipositor sheaths about 1/21/3 length of hind tibia; pecten about half length of hind tibia.

. Body brownish-black, without metallic reflections; antenna with scape and pedicel yellowish, flagellum brownish; legs mostly light brown, femora and tips of tarsi darker, coxae and trochanters whitish; eyes pale reddish; mandibles yellow; wings hyaline, tegulae and venation light brown.

. Head in frontal view 11.1× as wide as high. POL 1.52.2× OOL. Eye 1.261.36× as high as long, with more or less dense pilosity. Malar space about 0.30.4× eye height. Antenna with scape distinctly less than eye height and about equal to eye length; pedicel length about 1.72× width; combined length of pedicel and flagellum usually at least slightly less than head width. F1F3 anelliform, without sensilla and progressively increasing in diameter; F4 and F5 large, with sensilla, from about quadrate to about 1.2× as broad as long; clava length about 2.32.9× width. Clypeal margin rounded.

. In profile strongly arched dorsally, length about 1.21.3× width and about 1.31.4× height. Fore wing about 2.32.4× as long as wide; wing disc uniformly pilose, except with moderately bare areas under S and between this and apical margin; basal cell bare, basal vein with at most 4 hairs; M about 4.45.2× S; P from slightly shorter to slightly longer than S. Pecten about half length of hind tibia.
