<paragraph id="527F05DF8AB796919B5BED0E1F742D58" pageNumber="74">Eight workers taken by Dr. Bequaert at Malela agree very closely with Mayr's description of the types from Cameroon except in being smaller. They were nesting "under the fallen trunk of a palm in swampy ground." The type specimens were found by Sjostedt "in a rotten palm trunk," according to Mayr. The species is peculiar in its very small size, pale coloration and in having the eyes reduced to a few ommatidia.</paragraph>
