Heterochromatin blocks are mostly restricted to the centromeric regions of all chromosomes and some are more obvious than others. The chromosome pair characterized by a secondary constriction shows short heterochromatic arms. NOR signals correspond to secondary constriction and show significant intraindividual size variations between both homologous chromosomes (
