Externally not particularly distinct from several other species of

.
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mimallonidae" genus="Arcinnus" higherTaxonomySource="GBIF" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Arcinnus" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="31" pageNumber="32" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Arcinnus</taxonomicName>
are generally smaller than most
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mimallonidae" genus="Cicinnus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Cicinnus" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="31" pageNumber="32" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Cicinnus</taxonomicName>
and always lack hyaline patches on the hindwings (similarly patterned
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mimallonidae" genus="Cicinnus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Cicinnus" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="31" pageNumber="32" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Cicinnus</taxonomicName>
have hyaline patches on both fore and hindwings). Genitalia were the primary means by which this genus was originally described, and we also consider the male genitalia to have the most robust diagnostic characters defining this genus.

sensu lato clade. We hesitate to synonymize this genus at this time pending broader molecular sampling of the
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mimallonidae" genus="Cicinnus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Cicinnus" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="31" pageNumber="32" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Cicinnus</taxonomicName>
s.l. clade, which is ongoing and consistently supports the validity of
