is widespread throughout the Kimberley, where it is found in both fresh and marine waters; however the records presented in this study suggest that it is only found within the Fitzroy, Isdell, Prince Regent, Carson and Ord Rivers (

). The actual distribution is likely to be restricted to the lower reaches of most rivers in the region, with upstream movement potentially limited by the presence of instream barriers, such as waterfalls (see
