Male. Head semiglobular, deeply concave posteriorly. Eyes bare, upper frons black, narrowed towards frontal callus, about as broad as anterior ocellus at the narrowest point. Vertex and complete occiput black. Frontal callus prominent in lateral view, rounded, about as high as scape is long, yellow but diffuse brownish in lower half Antenna ochre yellow, arista brown, pedicel triangularly prominent on inner side, flagellum transverse cut distally, with distinct upper distal corner. Face, proboscis and palpus ochre yellow. Hairs on head completely yellowish, barely longer than scape, mainly erect on frons, face and vertex.

Yellow thoracic pile shorter than frontal hairs, dense on scutum and sparse on pleura, especially large part of anepisternum bare and shining. Hairs more brown and erect on dorsum, partly appressed, shorter and pale yellow on pleura.</paragraph>

Vein R2+3 arising at crossvein R-M and running parallel to R3. Rs slightly longer than crossvein R-M, upper proximal margin of discal cell somewaht arched. M3 straight, parallel to M2, its apical 1/6 missing. Crossvein M-Cu short but distinct. Knob of halteres greyish brown, stem yellow. Hairs on posttegula blackish.</paragraph>

<paragraph id="EC5836ED256EFFF5FF0A68362DB4FA4F" blockId="7.[151,1438,799,2033]" pageId="7" pageNumber="8">Abdomen cylindrical, somewhat clavate, black transverse bands on tergites not reaching lateral margin, slightly constricted in middle, developed on abdominal tergites 15. Band on tergite 5 broad but leaving fairly wide anterior and posterior margin yellow. Tergite 6 yellow with central black spot. Venter uniformly ochre yellow. Abdominal pile mostly semi-erect, mainly yellowish but very short and black on dark pattern. Longer pale hairs visible in anterolateral corners and along lateral margin only dorsally. Epandrium conspicuously convex, surstylus well developed. Bifurcate medial process of genital capsule with two symmetrical, slender and somewhat characteristic convergent projections. Each gonocoxite with a flat inner distal process reaching the length of medial projections. Gonostylus simple, rather short, tapering in distal half and pointed apically. Aedeagal complex only little sclerotized, flat, short and bipartite apically.</paragraph>

Frons broader than in male, black, somewhat tapered towards frontal callus, wider than ocellar triangle at lower margin. Frontal index about 2.6. Frontal callus separated from frons by a transverse line, whitish but yellowish brown on lower surface. Face and proboscis ochre yellow. Antenna yellow, flagellar complex brownish, arista brown. Crossvein M-Cu virtually absent. Other parts as in male including leg colour. Black abdominal spots on tergites 6 and 7 more extensive. Cerci relatively short, apical segment of cerci oval, barely 2.5 times as long as broad, much shorter than basal segment.</paragraph>

The frons, vertex and entire occiput are black and black haired. The thorax is yellow and the wing venation of the plesiomorphic

(with sinuate M3 and a well pigmented postcubitus), the legs are yellow, only the tarsi partly darkened and the hind tibiae black. The hind tibia is flattened and somewhat curved in the middle. The abdominal pattern is considerably reduced. The male terminalia are speciesspecific.

Male. Head semiglobular, deeply concave posteriorly. Frons, ocellar tubercle, vertex and occiput black. Frons tapered toward frontal callus, barely broader than anterior ocellus at narrowest point. Frontal callus rounded, in profile about as high as scape is long, pale yellow. Antenna yellow, arista brown, scape slightly longer than broad at distal margin, pedicel with usual subtriangular projection on inner side, flagellar complex almost round, with indistinct incision at base of arista. Face, proboscis and small palpus yellow. Head pile black, erect, on vertex barely as long as scape. Hairs on basal antennal segments black, whereas pile on lower half of frontal callus, face and lower third of postocular area predominantly yellow.

Thoracic pile very short, dense, dark brown to black, semi-erect on scutum, scutellum and mediotergite but paler, yellowish brown along notopleuron. Hairs on pleura mostly yellow and appressed, only on propleuron and katatergite long and erect.</paragraph>

Halter brownish, only its stem predominatly yellow, posttegula with a bunch of black hairs.

Dark pattern on yellow part is limited to basal half of tergite 1, with small and diffuse medial spot and a narrow, nearly semicircular marking at posterior margin of tergite 2. Tergite 4 with a transverse diffuse medial spot in anterior third and partly darkened posterior margin. Sternites 13 yellow, only sternite 1 black basally and sternite 4 with a large angulate marking leaving only broader anterior and narrower posterior margin yellow.</paragraph>

of radial triangle) and probably the same leg colouring. Also the shape of the male terminalia (especially the essentially tube-like aedeagal complex) indicates a distinct relationship. The depression in the middle of hind tibia may represent only an individual variation and not a species-specific character.
