is distinguished from its congeners by the well-developed indument on both sides of the leaf blades, by the flowering branches arising always directly from the rhizome and the vegetative branches arising axillary from the leaf sheaths below the terminal inflorescences, and by the cylindrical capsules with a smooth epicarp.
