Larvae are nocturnal, and in the 1st2rd instars feed on only wilted leaves but from 4th instars larvae prefer both fresh and wilted; in the 1st2rd instar they gnaw through the inner parts of leaves, the latest stages larvae feed whole leaves from the edges.
