is given below based on the original description by Hoffer (1975), the description of an Australian species by Simutnik &amp; Trjapitzin (2008) and the two Indian specimens.

Body convex, short, compact. Head sublenticular; occipital margin sharp; frontovertex broad, at least 0.4× head width; ocelli small and arranged in an obtuse-angled triangle; antennal torulus in line with or slightly below lower margin of eye, and separated from mouth margin by at least 2× torulus height. Mandible with two teeth and a dorsal truncation. Antennal formula, 1163; scape cylindrical and elongate; dimensions of funicle segments variable, slightly broader than long to longer than broad; clava 3-segmented and shorter than funicle.

Mesosoma. Pronotum and at least anterior part of mesoscutum hidden by posterior part of head; pronotum shorter than mesoscutum; mesoscutum with posterior margin truncate (straight); scutellum with both posterior and anterior margins truncate; axilla small and elongated; tegula large; metanotum and propodeum not visible in cardmounted specimens, but in a specimen dissected and mounted on slide, metanotum appears as a very narrow strip and propodeum also as a narrow strip except laterally expanded with spiracles visible (

). Fore wing rudiments sclerotized or membranous, subtriangular, posteriorly reaching to about apex of scutellum and the two wing rudiments widely separated posteriorly; hind wing not detected. Legs with fore and hind femora robust; tarsal formula, 555.
