Thomson (1864) described this species from Mindanao Island, the

|
<collectingCountry id="F36E7608FFCE9A1A413499EF6F8334BA" box="[538,665,223,247]" name="Philippines" pageId="2" pageNumber="231">Philippines</collectingCountry>
|
|
. As a result of several years of research, we have come to the conclusion that this species is endemic of Mindanao. In recent years, a number of new species have been discovered and described. All previous indications of its occurrence elsewhere refers to other species.
