Spine on hind margin of preopercle absent or thin and flat; dorsal-fin rays 9399; anal-fin rays 7883; pectoral-fin rays 2427; precaudal vertebrae 1213; total vertebrae 5458; pseudobranchial filaments 46; long rakers on anterior gill arch 1315; head length 2124% SL; pelvic-fin length 1723% SL, fins not extending beyond anus; orbit length 4.97.0% SL and 2230% HL; longest gill filament 1.42.0% SL and 6.29.0% HL; dorsal fin with central ocellus with black spot placed well behind vertical line through anus, the ocellus spot distance being 4151% SL and the spot covering 67 dorsal-fin rays, not extending ventrally to body; no vertical bars on body; otolith length 5.05.8% SL, sulcus length 4.04.7% SL, and ostium height 1822% sulcus length and 2834% ostium length.
