, this new species is distinguished by a combination of several characters, as follows. A wide, dorsal section of the eye bridge has no ommatidia; flagellomeres number 14; neck and node of the fourth flagellomere are equally long; the palpus is 4-segmented (

), the posterior edge of the ninth tergite is sinuous, with the convex sections accentuated by dense microtrichia (↓

The species epithet refers to Grytsjön, a nature reserve protecting a remnant of unspoiled hemiboreal forest in Sweden’s province Småland, which our research showed to be extraordinarily rich in fungusfeeding cecidomyiids. Also, Grytsjön Nature Reserve is the only location, in
