This species was frequently encountered in a cold, well-shaded to partly shaded stream. Several individuals were seen flying and perching on twigs, logs, and leaves near the stream, and they sometimes perched on exposed boulders along the stream. They were very abundant in areas with no or little human activity. Cassola (2000) regarded this to be a widespread Philippine endemic species (with two subspecies). However,
