Diagnostic characters.
The species can be distinguished from others within the genus by the long, bare superior volsella. The species resembles
M. schuecki
Reiss
, but the wings of
M. yaanensis
are transparent, whereas those of
M. schuecki
have markings. The color of the tarsomeres of
M. yaanensis
is uniformly greenish yellow, whereas
M. schuecki
has the apical fourth of each tarsomere brown.
Etymology
. The species is named after the
type
locality, using the Latin suffix
ensis
, denoting place of origin.
