( Fig. 1 A C ; Plate II, Fig. IV) Locus typicus : USA , Arizona , Cochise County , Huachuca Mts. , Ash Cyn. Road, 31.39°N , 111.24°W . Holotype : Male , 24.ix.–5.x.1993 , oak-pine woodland, leg. N. McFarland , Malaise trap ( PWMP ). Paratypes : 3 males , same data as holotype ( PWMP ) ; 3 males , 5.–30.viii.1993 , same locality ; 2 males , 13.– 22.ix.1993 , same locality ( PWMP , 1 male PKHH ) . Description . Male. Head : Round; eye bridge 3 facets wide. Antenna brown, scape and pedicel paler; 4 th flagellomere with a l/w index of 1.8–2.0, brown, hairs shorter than the flagellomere wide, with a few deepened sensory pits. Palpi 3-segmented, first segment with 3–4 bristles and a flat patch of sensillae. Mouth parts short, 1/3 of head height. Thorax : Brownish; scutum with rather long and dark hairs, some lateral and prescutellar bristles longer. Scutellum with 4 robust bristles. Postpronotum bare. Wing brownish; R 1 = 1/2 R; c = 2/3 w; y = x, both bare; M-fork as long as M-stem, narrow; CuA-stem somewhat shorter than x; posterior veins distinct, without macrotrichia. Haltere short, brown. Legs yellowish; tibial organ of fore tibia with a small patch of stronger bristles, not bordered. Claws finely toothed. Abdomen : Ventral base of hypopygium without lobe; inner ventral margin of gonocoxites with very long and strong bristles, especially dense basally. Gonostylus apically round, apex densely haired, subapically with 2 long spines and a long whiplash hair. Tegmen as wide as high, apically rounded. Aedeagus short, with large furca. Body length: 2.2 mm . Comments . The species is characterized by long and strong bristles on the ventral inner margin of the gonocoxites and two long subapical spines on the gonostylus. It is similar to Psl. longisetosa sp. n. It differs from it by possessing dense bristles in the basal half of the gonocoxites. Distribution . USA ( Arizona ).
