Distribution: Montane forests of Taiwan . Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Soriculus fumidus . Discussion: Formerly included in caudatus by Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951:59) , but see Jameson and Jones (1977:474) and Hoffmann (1985 b ) , who included sodalis (now in Chodsigoa ) in fumidus . Motokawa et al. (1998) described the karyotype (2n = 64, FN = 116) and distribution of Episoriculus fumidus that occurs symatrically with Chodsigoa sodalis in Taiwan . A RNA sequence was published by Querouil et al. (2001) and Corneli (2002) under the name Soriculus fumidus .
