The hazards of Nomenclatural Archaeology? The Diptera names of Theodorus van Swinderen in his 1822 Index Rerum Naturalium quae conservantur in Museo Academico Groningano Author Evenhuis, Neal L. text Zootaxa 2020 2020-10-07 4859 3 383 396 journal article 8272 10.11646/zootaxa.4859.3.4 87eee164-0413-4185-a317-1c4fde48a1c8 1175-5326 4413188 55C9E960-E538-449F-A00F-66A622C82E36 Tromera Swinderen , 1822: 87 . TYPE SPECIES : Madiza glabra Fallén, 1820 , by monotypy . CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Madiza Fallén, 1810 , n. syn . FAMILY: MILICHIIDAE . REMARKS: Swinderen’s descriptive word for the genus-group name as “Angstige” [= anxious; quivering] can be considered a behavioral trait and thus makes the generic name available. Additionally, the only included species ( glabra ) is determined here as Madiza glabra Fallén, 1820 [since it is the only species of acalyptrate flies with the specific name glabra that was described at that time], which can be unambiguously assigned to a nominal speciesgroup taxon makes the genus name available (Code Art. 12.2.5). Madiza glabra Fallén, 1820 is the type species of the milichiid genus Madiza Fallén, 1810 [ teste I.C.Z.N. 1978: 109 [Opinion 1112]), thus, I here treat Tromera Swinderen, 1822 as a junior synonym of Madiza Fallén, 1810 , n. syn .
