These are robust cicadas with the abdomen shorter than the length of the head to cruciform elevation, the fore wings are infuscated along most or all veins, and the body is covered with long, thick pile ( Stål 1861 ; Torres 1960 ). DISTRIBUTION. Species have been recorded from Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Colombia , Ecuador , Peru , and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963b ; Duffels & van der Laan 1985 ; Sanborn 2013 ; Sanborn & Heath 2014 ).
