General characters. Forewing ground colour white, usually suffused with brown or black scales, medial fascia and subterminal line single, apex with oblique stripes, termen with a row of terminal dots; R1 and R5 free, R3 and R4 stalked, M2 present. Hindwing white to greyish brown, without stigma, but with spot(s) in some individuals, M1 located in lower part of cell. Male genitalia with uncus nearly as long as gnathos; valva usually long and narrow, processus basalis generally developed, if reduced or absent, costa or apex of valva forming a projection or spine; sacculus reduced or absent, pseudosaccus present or absent; juxta varied in shape; phallus varied in length and diameter as well as in composition of cornuti. Female genitalia with developed posterior and anterior apophyses, ostium bursae usually without projection, ductus bursae varied in length and diameter, signum present or absent. Distribution.
