It is circumscribed for taxonomic convenience only and does not necessarily reflect phylogenetic relationships of the included species, which remain unassessed for the genus as a whole. Members of the unistriatella species group share the following characters: the forewing has a white (Figs 1, 3–7) or a dark (Fig. 2) antemedian fascia, and is usually covered with dense dark grey scales from distal 1/3 to 2/5; the male genitalia have a single or a bilobed uncus, and usually a reduced gnathos; and the female genitalia have a developed lamella postvaginalis and a single or paired signa. The unistriatella species group includes five previously described species: P. unistriatella Lvovsky, 2000 from Indonesia , P. uncignatha Du, Li et Wang, 2011 from China ( Hainan ), P. quadrilobata Wang, 2018 and P. flavidius Kim, 2018 from Cambodia , and P. heppneri Kim et Park, 2010 from Vietnam . The following seven new species are also included in this group.
