Diaphanosoma brachyurum (Liévin, 1848) s.lat. Recorded by Aranguren-Riaño et al . (2011) . D. brachyurum s.str. is regarded as a Palearctic species ( Korovchinsky 1992 ), but similar forms have been reported from the Nearctic and Neotropical regions ( Paggi 1978 ; Zoppi de Roa & Lopez 2008; Korovchinsky 2004 ), forming a complex of cryptic species ( Korovchinsky 2004 ). Populations from the Neotropics need to be revised. In Colombia , D. brachyurum s.lat. is distributed in the Andean region. 2. Diaphanosoma brevireme Sars, 1901 . Recorded by Barón-Rodríguez et al . (2006) ; Álvarez (2010); Aranguren-Riaño et al. (2011) ; Fuentes-Reinés et al . (2012 , fig. 5). It is a Neotropical species ( Paggi 1978 ; Korovchinsky 1992 , 2004 ). In Colombia , it has been reported from the Andean, Amazon and Caribbean regions. 3. Diaphanosoma dentatum Herbst, 1968 . Recorded by Korovchinsky (1992) , Barón-Rodríguez et al. (2006) ; Villabona-González et al. (2011) and Aranguren-Riaño et al . (2011) . Neotropical species ( Kotov et al . 2013a ). In Colombia , it has been reported from the Andean and Caribbean regions. 4. Diaphanosoma birgei Kořínek, 1981 . Recorded by Monroy et al . (2004 , fig 4); Villabona-González et al . (2011) ; Aranguren-Riaño et al. (2011) . Nearctic species ( Korovchinsky 1992 ), but it has been also recorded in the Neotropical region ( Kotov et al . 2013a ). Populations from the Neotropics should be accurately compared with the Nearctic ones. In Colombia , it has been reported from the Andean and Caribbean regions. 5. Diaphanosoma polyspinum Korovchinsky, 1982 . Recorded by Aranguren-Riaño et al . (2011) . Neotropical species, it inhabits the Amazon and Orinoco basins ( Korovchinsky, 2004 ). In Colombia , it occurs in the Amazon region. 6. Diaphanosoma spinulosum Herbst, 1975 . Recorded by Barón-Rodríguez et al. (2006) ; Gallo-Sánchez et al. (2009) ; Villabona-González et al. (2011) ; Aranguren-Riaño et al. (2011) and Fuentes-Reinés (2014c, fig 2) . Neotropical species ( Paggi 1978 ; Korovchinsky, 2004 ). In Colombia , it is found in the Andean, Amazon and Caribbean regions. 7. Latonopsis australis Sars, 1888 s .lat. Recorded by Álvarez (2010); Villabona-González et al. (2011) and Fuentes-Reinés et al . (2012 , fig 2). Valid species, distributed in the tropics and subtropics of the western and eastern hemispheres ( Korovchinsky 2004 ; Van Damme & Dumont 2010; Kotov et al. 2013b ), it is in reality a complex of cryptic species ( Korovchinsky 2004 ; Elías-Gutiérrez et al . 2008b ) and needs to be revised worldwide. In Colombia , it occurs in the Caribbean region. 8. Pseudosida bidentata Herrick, 1884. Recorded by Stingelin (1913, figs 4–6) ; Pearse (1916) ; Barón- Rodríguez et al. (2006) and Aranguren-Riaño et al . (2011) . Valid Neotropical species distributed from Argentina to U.S.A. ( Korovchinsky 2004 ). In Colombia , it has been reported from the Andean and Amazon regions. 9. Sida crystallina ( O .F. Müller, 1776) s. lat. Recorded by Stingelin (1913, figs 1-3) . S. crystallina s.str. is a Palearctic species ( Korovchinsky 2004 ). Similar forms have been sometimes reported from the Neotropical region ( Stingelin 1913 ; Rodríguez-Almaraz & Leija-Tristán 1995 ; Elías-Gutiérrez et al . 2008b ). Populations from the Neotropics should be revised and likely this species could be Sida americana Korovchinsky, 1979 which is common in North America ( Korovchinsky 2004 ), or a similar taxon. In Colombia , it occurs in the Andean region. 10. Sarsilatona serricauda (Sars, 1901) . Recorded by Barón-Rodríguez et al. (2006) ; Álvarez (2010); Fuentes-Reinés et al. (2012 , fig 4). According to Korovchinsky (1992) it is a Neotropical species, but it has been also reported from the Nearctic zone ( Korovchinsky 2004 ). In Colombia , it occurs in the Caribbean and Andean regions.
