Seemingly restricted to western, central and northern Europe; also recorded from

: one province (Minho).
Ecology.
The only sampling site of this species in
Portugal
was a wet pasture with heather and broom in its edges. In northwestern Europe,
R. longicorne
is a member of a species guild typical for open very humid heathland and peat bogs (
Pollet 2000
).
