Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial and saxicolous in rocky habitats in semiarid regions; 2100–3000 m . Notes: —Differs from commoner Cheilanthes pruinata by its 1-pinnate to 1-pinnate-pinnatifid blades, pale orange-brown, flaccid rhizome scales, and numerous small, gland-tipped hairs on the adaxial blade surfaces. This species has generally been considered the lectotype of Cheilanthes (PPG I 2016) .
